About

Origins

Hyper Textile began as a free-form creative collective that Gyan Prayaga started with three friends in January 2023. It ran for about six months.

Each member pursued a self-directed project, then brought it to the group for refinement, critique, and often collaboration. One of these projects was Digital Altar.

Hyper Textile continues as a home for creative technology projects, whether led by him or by collaborators. Earlier work has been added when it aligns with the studio's manifesto.

The name reflects an aspiration to make software that feels tactile and physical, rooted in craft traditions, rather than abstract and hyper-optimized. It is a portmanteau of hypertext and textiles.
